1. Who we are
TalkiDino is a voice companion app for children developed by persona.me (an independent developer based in Taiwan). This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect the data of our users, including children and their parents or guardians.
2. Data we collect
- Voice input: When you use voice conversation, microphone audio is streamed to Google Gemini API for recognition and response. TalkiDino does not retain the original audio after the reply is generated.
- Conversation text: To power guardian weekly reports, turn limits, and redemption history, we store summaries and usage counts on the device. These records do not contain the raw audio.
- Guardian account info: If a guardian signs in via Google or Apple, we receive the email address and the user identifier provided by the sign-in service in order to sync weekly reports and verify entitlements.
- Game progress: Discovered dinos, hatching records, gacha history, and subscription status are stored in on-device SharedPreferences and optionally synced to our Cloudflare Workers backend.
- Purchase info: Subscriptions are handled by the App Store or Google Play depending on platform. We only receive purchase identifiers or transaction information from the store for entitlement verification. We never see payment details. Premium subscription voice turns are a daily allowance; unused daily turns do not roll over and reset each day. Voice cookies are extra purchased turns counted separately.
- Diagnostics: Occasional error events may be logged in our Cloudflare Workers logs to help fix bugs. These logs do not contain personal identifiers.
3. Children's data and parental rights
TalkiDino is a dinosaur companion world designed for children aged 4+ and their grown-ups. It is designed with App Store Kids Category expectations, Google Play Families Policy, and child privacy principles in mind:
- Before first launch, grown-ups are shown safety, privacy, voice processing, purchase, and external-link information and must confirm before entering the game.
- We do not show third-party behavioral advertising to children.
- We do not ask children for real names, addresses, phone numbers, or similar personal data. The app contains no child-to-child social features.
- Subscriptions, purchases, account sign-in, data deletion, and external links require a grown-up check.
- Guardians may delete account data in Settings > Data and account, or request access, export, or deletion by contacting talkidino@outlook.com. Manual requests are completed within 30 days.
4. Third-party services
- Google Gemini API: Handles speech recognition and response generation per its API terms.
- Azure Speech: TalkiDino Language may use Azure Speech to generate prompt audio and short dinosaur-teacher feedback. Voice is used only for the current language-practice turn and is not recorded in the background.
- Google Sign-In / Sign in with Apple: Handles guardian authentication, subject to the Google or Apple privacy policy.
- App Store / Google Play: Handles subscription purchases depending on platform. Payment information is managed by the corresponding store.
- Cloudflare Workers (our backend): Stores synced data and diagnostic logs.
We do not sell or trade user data with any other third parties.
5. Data retention and deletion
- On-device data: Removed on uninstall, or via iOS or Android system settings for app data.
- Cloud-synced data: Guardians can delete the account and all data from Settings > Data and account. Deletion removes or anonymizes dinosaur memories, guardian reports, chat summaries, dinosaur progress, sessions, and guardian contact data under that account.
- Diagnostic logs: Retained up to 30 days, then automatically rotated.
- Purchase records: Retained at least 5 years to meet App Store / Google Play and tax requirements.
6. Permissions
- Microphone: Used during voice conversation only; no background recording while idle.
- Network: Connects to Gemini API, Google Sign-In, Sign in with Apple, App Store / Google Play purchase services, and Cloudflare Workers.
- Photos / storage: Used only when a guardian chooses to share or save a record; the app also stores its own temporary files and game progress.
7. Policy updates
Material changes will be announced in-app and on the App Store / Google Play listing. Continued use constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
